As we continue to look at what Jesus teaches about communication I want to point to the woman who cleaned his feet with her hair.
Here He is with the leaders- the most important people at a private dinner. No one would have thought anything of it had He simply spoken to them, and ignored the woman who was crying over his feet.
But again Jesus knew something about communication. He could have ignored her- spoken to them- and at the end of the evening the others would have gotten a message, the woman would not and that would be it.
But Jesus didn't start at the top. He didn't use "trickle-down economics" hoping the woman would be reached eventually by someone He first taught. Instead He practiced "trickle-up communication". He stopped, addressed her directly and in the process not only changed her life, but all of those in attendance.
Simultaneously, His message was simple and straight-forward enough for the poorest to understand, while radically changing even the "highest up" in attendance.
What's your on-air message like? Are you talking to the "Religious elect" or the woman on the ground? Is your message (i.e. language and storytelling) simple enough for the poorest (in heart, in wealth or in "Christian lingo") to understand?
